South Australia’s leading provider of early intervention services for children with Autism has been named as the overall winner of the 2018 Perks Business Boost Awards, which were announced last night during a cocktail event at Electra House.
Founded by psychologist Susan Petrie, Beanstalk Child Psychology provides evidence-based applied behavioural analysis therapy for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, other disorders and challenging behaviour. It is the only company to employ Registered Behaviour Technicians in the state.
Perks Managing Director Mark Roderick said the judges were impressed by Beanstalk’s pioneering work to change the face of Autism treatment in South Australia.
“Susan and the team at Beanstalk are making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with Autism and their families, helping them to better understand, manage and address the condition at its earliest stages” he said.
“What really stood out to the judges was that nobody else is doing this work here in South Australia and we identified an opportunity to further grow a business that is already impacting the lives of so many people.”
Now in its third year, the Perks Business Boost Awards assists established and growing South Australian businesses across all sectors and industries, helping them to bring business ideas to life and manage their growth.
Mr Roderick said that the calibre of this year’s entrants once again demonstrates that the spirit of innovation is alive and well in South Australia.
“The Perks Business Boost Awards provide a great opportunity to shine a light on the work of some outstanding young local businesses and we continue to be amazed by the work of our home-grown entrepreneurs,” he said.
“As loyal supporters of all things South Australian, Perks is proud to assist these outstanding businesses by providing invaluable advice and professional support through a critical growth phase.”
As part of the revamped awards format for 2018, the top-three overall entrants each receive a cash prize, professional services tailored to their business needs – including budgeting, forecasting, finance, advisory and HR services – courtesy of Perks, and public relations and graphics design support from leading agency Michels Warren PR and China Shop Graphic Design, with a total prize value of $40,000.
This year’s runner-up is ByGen Pty Ltd, which has developed revolutionary new technology that converts agricultural waste into high-value activated carbon for a wide variety of uses in a multi-billion dollar global market. Rounding out the top three is fashion label Bubish Luxe, which specialises in selling unique outerwear.
“With so many great entries, judging the awards is never an easy process. However, it shows just how many brilliant minds we have at work in South Australia,” Mr Roderick said.
“I’d like to congratulate all our winners and we look forward to working with them to ensure that their businesses continue to thrive.”
